Some of the cultures being showcased: Africa, Caribbean, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Hawaii, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Lebanon/Syria, Latin America, Malaysia/Singapore, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and so many more.
If you haven’t experienced Carassauga before, make 2010 (Friday, May 28 – Sunday, May 30) the year to take the whole family for a “tour around the world.”
Carassauga is an incorporated non-profit volunteer community organization, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2010. It operated for the first time in 1986 with 10 pavilions.
The Festival was developed in response to a challenge put out by Mayor Hazel McCallion to all ethno cultural groups at a meeting of her calling in the old City Hall in the fall of 1985. The Festival has evolved to become an important annual event for Mississauga and surrounding areas with its popularity steadily increasing in recent years.
Carassauga Festival ranks today as Mississauga's largest cultural festival, its largest indoor festival, and its second longest running community festival. It is the largest multi-cultural Festival in Ontario and has been voted by Festivals & Events Ontario as one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario.

Carassauga 2010
In 2010 Carassauga celebrates its 25th anniversary. Plans are already in place with many new and exciting changes to the Festival. This year the location of the Festival will be consolidated to virtually one area surrounding the Hershey Centre. This is an answer to many Festival visitors who wish they could visit more countries but because of distance between pavilions, timing and transportation make it almost impossible.
Cultural groups are excited about the prospect of celebrating and showcasing their countries together versus independently. An outdoor tent will be set up at the Hershey Centre with a main stage for all countries to perform. Opening ceremonies, a children’s zone and artisan market are just a few of the new and exciting additions to the Festival.
This year we look forward to your new or renewed support of the Festival as we celebrate 25 years of diversity, excitement and meeting of new friends. Come celebrate with us in 2010!
